Duane Chase (Kurt)
 played Kurt at 13. Now 51 and a computer software designer in the state of Washington, he lives in Seattle with his wife Petra, a nurse.
"I never really wanted to be an actor. I got into it to make some money for college. After high school, I was a forest firefighter, then did a master's degree in geology. I've always had a love of Climbing, and one of the first thing I wanted when I got to Austria to make the film was an ice-axe. Now, I and all film children, with e-mail, are all in touch more than ever. The other night I had an e-mail from Angie (Brigitta), saying she'd promised her friends an Austrian dinner. She wanted a recipe for Wiener schnitzel (fried veal)."
