Nicholas Hammond (Friedrich)
 Nicholas Hammond, 52, was 13 when he played Friedrich. Later, he was Spiderman in the TV series and now works as a scriptwriter in Sydney.
Nobody would thought he get the rolehe couldnīt sing at the audition, due to a ski accident a few days before which had left him without his front teeth. But he got the role, partly because he was already a professional, having appeared on television, on Broadway and in the movies.
"I was just awestruck playing Julie's stepson. She was very playful. on set, she'd tell jokes and make funny faces. later on, I worked out she was doing it because it was important that we all seemed loving with each other on camera. She was creating an atmosphere where it was delightful to be around her.
